This October homecoming is about coming together to honor our ancestors, embrace our traditions, and reconnect with the spirit of home during Pchum Ben.
In December, we will celebrate the One-Year Anniversary of bringing koun Khmer together from around the world to reconnect with our roots, our culture, and one another in Cambodia.
Next April, we'll come together to celebrate Khmer New Year, embrace our traditions, and welcome a new year with joy, laughter, and homecoming.

For this experience, the group is intentionally limited to koun Khmer (those of Khmer descent) who sign up individually.
This helps create a shared space where everyone is coming in with a similar intention around identity, reconnection, and community.
If you have a Khmer friend or partner who feels called to this experience, they are welcome to apply and join as part of the group.
Otherwise, we are not able to accommodate additional guests or have others join the trip or activities.
-
That is completely okay. Many participants are visiting for the first time.
This experience is designed to support you every step of the way, from pre-trip guidance to on-the-ground support throughout the journey.
You do not need prior knowledge or experience. Just an openness to learn, explore, and connect.
-
Most participants who have already been to Cambodia before still decide to join AKKHE because of one or more of the following reasons:
They didn’t get the full experience of learning about the culture, history and traditions that they wanted. when they previously visited. They might have gone with their family but missed out on the deep understanding they desire. They might not have gotten the answers to the questions they had. Maybe they didn’t feel comfortable to ask or couldn’t because of the language barrier.
It was a long time ago, and they were too young, or they want to see how much Cambodia has changed in the last 6+ years.
They long for deep emotional connection and healing as a koun Khmer, one that can only come from taking the time to ask questions, reflect, and share in community.
They want to meet other koun Khmer who share the same desire to experience Cambodia and reconnect with their roots in this special way. They yearn for a Khmer community of their own and the lifelong friendships that come out of it.
Whether you’ve visited already Angkor Wat or Toul Sleng before, this Koun Khmer Homecoming Experience is a unique journey with others that you won’t get elsewhere.
-
