Selarati presents

A Koun Khmer Homecoming Experience

For the ones who’ve always longed to belong. A journey through Cambodia to reconnect with our roots, culture, and identity, in community.

Not just a trip. A return.

Bringing Cambodians back home

To our motherland, to ourselves, to each other.

Selarati creates intimate group homecomings for the Khmer diaspora who want to understand where they come from: the culture, religion, history, language, food, and the people.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning with new questions, you’ll come home alongside koun Khmer who understand the longing.

The experience

What a homecoming holds

History & healing

Learn our history with care, including the Khmer Rouge era, with space to process what it means for us and our families.

Culture & tradition

Pagodas, offerings, daily Khmer lessons, cooking with families, and the customs many of us grew up hearing about, blindly following, or never had the chance to learn about.

Modern Cambodia

The energy of Phnom Penh today, local creatives and spaces, and the Cambodia that is still being built each day.

Countryside life

Rice fields, rural livelihoods, meeting local families, and the slower rhythm of Battambang.

Angkor & beyond

The temples of Siem Reap and beyond with trusted local guides who bring the history and stories to life.

Healing & community

Curated reflection circles for slowing down, journaling, and shared moments guided by Sela, where strangers become family.

Meet your host

Suo Sdei, I’m Sela

I’m a Khmer-Krom American Content Creator, born in raised in the US, who moved to Cambodia in 2022 to reconnect with my roots and learn Khmer. Along the way, so many of you shared the same longing: to understand where we come from, to speak our language with confidence, and to feel less alone in it.

A Koun Khmer Homecoming Experience is the trip I wish I’d had. It’s a rare chance to visit the homeland and rediscover our Khmer identities with other koun Khmer from around the world who know get it. I host every homecoming myself, holding space for the joy, the grief, and everything in between.

From past Homecomers

What our koun Khmer carry home

Instead of feeling rejected as a koun Khmer, we felt accepted as a koun Khmer.

Savandy

The family that we created in this group, it’s a forever bond. It’s something that I’ll hold in my heart for the rest of my life.

Chante

As a Cambodian adoptee, this experience was the launchpad for me in feeling and knowing that Cambodia could be home again.
